Every flight has its own set of rules and regulations. However, if you are traveling by plane for the first time here are some of the tips to keep in mind before traveling.

Web Check-In – Many airlines offer the online check-in option. With this, you can check-in online and print off your boarding pass at the comfort of your home by logging into the airline’s website or app. By check-in online you can save a lot of time as you can skip the long check-in queues at the airport and can go straight to security.

Travel Documents –  Make sure you are carrying your Id card and passport or required visa. Keep your boarding pass and your travel documents handy and safe.

Travel Insurance – Most of the airlines have the option to buy travel insurance. It will be advisable to buy travel insurance as it will cover any travel disruption, lost or stolen baggage, etc. Each and every insurance varies the cover so read it carefully.

Airport Procedures – Read online or watch some videos regarding the airport procedures. It varies from domestic to international. Also, make sure to arrive at the airport early as you don’t know how long it will take for the security and check-in process. Keep checking your flight pnr status to know any delays in the flight.

Checked Baggage – Checked baggage has to be weighed and dropped off at the check-in counters at the airport. The allowance of the checked baggage varies depending on the flight you have booked. Make sure to check the weight and size allowance of the baggage before packing the bags and if possible try to weigh the bag at home before leaving for the airport. Also, add a baggage tag or a ribbon to your bag so that you can easily identify your bag at the conveyor belt.

Hand Baggage – Hand baggage has to be kept on- person during the flight and will be kept in the cabin. However, there is a list of items that are prohibited to carry. Make sure you are not carrying any sharp objects like scissors, tools, or any object that could act as a weapon.

Seat Selection – You can pre-select the seat of your choice. If you are a person who likes window seats and does not want to be disturbed by anyone then select the set while web check-in.

Dress Comfortably – If it’s a long journey traveling can be exhausting so make sure you are dressed comfortably. Also, you can keep a pair of your clothes in the hand baggage and can change at the airport once you land at the destination.
